The Metrel MD9273 is not just another clamp meter with multimeter functions. It does measure true RMS current, but it can also measure leakage currents with a resolution of an impressive 0.01 mA, and it can also be used as a single-phase power analyzer, as it can measure both harmonics/THD and phase shift angle. On top of this add, wireless communication with PC, mobile, tablet or installation tester MI3152/MI3155 via bluetooth.
LED light sources gradually replace all other light sources, and are often installed as retrofit solutions in existing installations. The result is not always without problems, as the number of LED light sources and the quality of the driver sometimes give rise to accidental disconnection of the RCD due to leakage currents during start-up or operation.
Strict requirements for energy efficiency have also made it necessary to measure effects on even very small motors in e.g. ventilation systems. Since electronic controls optimize power at the expense of power quality, measurement must be made with a true RMS instrument, and the risk of leakage currents from both motors and electronics makes a leakage current probe absolutely indispensable for every technician during both commissioning and troubleshooting.
