Energy optimization

Your path to better operational economy

Energy optimization is your safe and direct route to better operational economy.

When you invest in your building's technical installations, you can save energy with relatively small efforts and make a big difference for your business and the environment - without compromising on comfort.

We help with everything from (free) screening of your building to reporting on optimization opportunities and choosing the right product solutions.

Pumps

Pumps are part of many building operations and often run for thousands of hours every year. As a general rule, you should replace your old pump if it is older than 4 years.

Guide about energy optimization

Learn more about energy optimization with our free guide "Energy optimization - your sure way to better operational economy".

The guide gives you insight into how much there is to save and what you need to be aware of when energy optimizing your building's technical installations.

How to easily get started with energy optimization

We have made it easy and straightforward to prioritize your company's energy optimization. The process consists of four parts that require minimal time from you.

Pre-rapportsheet

You answer a short questionnaire about your company's installations, which forms the basis for the screening.

Screening

The screening is carried out by specialists from technology and component manufacturers who identify risks in the current solution and potential areas for action

Reporting

We create a report that gives you a full overview of where to focus, how much CO2 your company saves, which products to choose - and how quickly your investment will pay for itself.

Optimisation

With the report, you can make a documented decision about your company's investment in energy optimisation. You can also use the report to apply for grants from e.g. Sparenergi.dk.

Lighting

In 2023, the EU introduced the RoHS directive, which banned the use of mercury in light sources. This means that the first thing you should do is check your light sources. If you're still using old, conventional fluorescent lamps, the first step is to replace them with new LED light sources.

Remember! Good lighting leads to better well-being, fewer errors and higher productivity. Lighting, along with sound and indoor climate, has a major impact on both well-being and work performance.

Domestic water installations

Many domestic water installations have great potential for savings. For example, water waste from a running tap or toilet can cost thousands of dollars a year.

There are two main things to look out for when assessing the performance and savings potential of your faucet.

  1. How long does the water take to get hot? Locate your faucets and turn, screw or turn the faucet towards the hot water, make sure you either have a watch, mobile or something else to time it. If it takes more than 30-40 seconds, it indicates that both the fixture and the water circulation should be examined more closely.
  2. How many liters of water per minute? Here you need to assess the water consumption for each tap, how is the water flow and how many liters of water are used per minute? For example, take a cup and place it under the tap and measure how many liters of water come out in one minute.

Compare this knowledge with the information from the data sheet of a newer fixture. This way, you can quickly assess the savings in liters per minute. This gives you an overview of the potential for faucet replacement.

Heatpumps

When considering switching to a heat pump, you can choose between three possible solutions. As a starting point, you should consider a heat pump solution if your current heat source is either natural gas or oil for heating steam or hot water systems.

You can take advantage of Lemvigh-Müller's screenings, where we provide both our expertise and that of leading suppliers to help you clarify your needs. To get the best solution, you need to know:

  • Total heat demand for space heating and processes
  • What temperatures you need for your processes
  • Possible solutions
  • Savings potentials
  • Investment needs and grant opportunities
  • Adaptation of existing production conditions

Pumps

When checking if your pump is a power hog, you can look for the following:

  1.  If a minimum wattage of 50 watts or more is indicated, it is recommended to replace your pump regardless of how old it is.
  2. If your pump is older than 8 years, it is recommended to replace it. In fact, in many cases it may be worth replacing your pump when it is 4 years old.
  3. If you have a Grundfos pump, you can easily read the age of the pump. The pump will usually say (PC / P/C / PS / PX) or similar followed by four numbers. The first two numbers indicate the pump's production year and the next two numbers indicate the pump's production week. For example, if it says 'PC:0213', the pump is from 2002, week 13. Where 02 is the year of manufacture and 13 is the week number.

You can also follow this chart to see if your pump has potential for replacement.
