Discovery heat detectors share a common profile with ionization and optical smoke detectors, but feature a low airflow resistance enclosure made of self-extinguishing white polycarbonate.
The Discovery heat detector uses a single thermistor to detect the air temperature at the detector's position. The thermistor is connected in a resistor network that produces a voltage output that depends on the temperature. The design of the resistance network, together with the processing algorithm in the microcontroller, provides an approximately linear characteristic from 10°C to 80°C. This linearized signal is further processed, depending on the selected response mode, and converted to an analog output.
Ideal for environments that are normally dirty or smoky.
