Ascorbic acid for neutralizing (via a redox reaction) strongly oxidizing substances such as hydrogen peroxide, elemental bromine, chlorine bleaching lye, calcium hypochlorite, nitrous gases, nitrates and many others.
Amino acid buffer for neutralizing acids and alkalis such as sulphuric acid, caustic soda, nitric acid or hydrochloric acid.
Amino acid glycine for binding formaldehyde and phenols.
Calcium chloride for precipitation of fluoride as insoluble calcium fluoride, thereby also inactivation of hydrofluoric acid.
Additionally, polyethylene glycol and glycerol as solubilizers for organic chemicals.
