The Bonded seal, also called a Dowty Washer is a rectangular-section metal washer, with a trapezoidal shaped ring of vulcanised rubber bonded to the inside. Both the washer and the rubber material can be selected to suit a given application. The bonded seal can replace copper washers for use in high pressure environments. APPLICATION: Hydraulic environments, pneumatic environments and general industrial applications. INSTALLATION: Bonded Seals are easily installed onto a fastener. To install, simply push the seal onto the fastener with a slight twisting motion. Once a Bonded Seal is installed it will centre itself on the fastener – providing an even sealing force around the entire circumference of the fastener. If a Bonded Seal is carefully installed and removed from a fastener, it can be reused. However, before reusing a Bonded Seal be sure to check it for any damage to the rubber part. NOTES: For special applications, both the metal and the rubber parts can be delivered in other materials and designs.
