Rutile-basic coated electrode of type E 19 12 3 L R / E316L-17 for welding austenitic stainless steel such as 1.4436 / 316L. Specially designed with a fast-freezing slag for vertical-down welding in sheet metal fabrication. When using same electrode diameter and same wall thickness it is possible to save up to 50% of welding time compared with vertical-up position. Fast travel speed, which results in low heat input and small distortion, minimizes straightening work. During vertical-down welding there is less risk for overheating of base metal and therefore lower risk for impaired corrosion resistance. Scaling temperature is approx. 850°C in air. Max. service temperature 400°C.
