The FLIR E8 Pro is equipped with a 320x240 pixel thermal detector and a photo camera. The camera is extremely easy to operate, designed for those who want to get started with thermography but do not need a device with numerous functions and settings.
The core concept of the FLIR Ex series is point-and-shoot – the cameras are fully automatic with no complicated settings. Simply point the camera at the object, press the shutter button, and the images are saved in JPEG format. The file contains all temperature data for subsequent analysis using FLIR’s reporting software, which can be downloaded for free.
The built-in photo camera and FLIR’s patented MSX function make thermal images even sharper. When MSX is activated, photo details are merged with the thermal image, significantly enhancing the clarity of the display on the LCD screen, far beyond what you would expect from a camera in this price range. MSX makes it much easier to locate different components in the image, simplifying troubleshooting and analysis.
As an alternative to using menu buttons, the E8 Pro features a 3.5" touchscreen, allowing for easy navigation through the camera’s menu system. If you want to adjust the camera for a specific object in the image, simply tap the object on the screen, and the camera will automatically adjust Level and Span accordingly – a smart and time-saving feature. The touchscreen is also used to add text notes to individual images, making it much easier to create a report of your thermography tasks later on.
