Inductive sensors from the Telemecanique Sensors "Osisense" range, can be used to detect if a metal is present or not. This type of product is used in almost any automated machine, where you want to determine if an object is present or not, e.g. a robotic arm. The nominal sensing distance "Sn" is given for black steel, if detecting other metals be aware that there is a reduction factor. E.g stainless steel reduce Sn to about 33%. The products in this range is made from metal and can be flush mounted. The products are avialable in the size M8 to M30 and PNP / NPN and NO/NC output, either cable version or M8/M12 connector.
