SI (Silicone Rubber). O-rings are the most common sealing element, and because they are inexpensive and simple, the area for application of O-rings is very wide in hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Where working conditions and equipment are suitable, they can be used both in static and dynamic applications, but they are not recommended for rotary movements. APPLICATION: Used in almost every industry but especially in non-moving machinery and in static sealing applications, e.g. as flange or cover seals. Silicone O-rings are very clean and have an excellent resistance to bacterial growth. Often used in industries associated with food or medical products. NOTE: Silicone has a relatively low wear resistance, tensile strength and tear strength, and therefore silicone O-rings are not recommended for dynamic sealing. Do not use for acids and alkalis, hydrocarbon-based or aromatic hydrocarbons fuels.
