PE-HD is amongst other areas used for bottles and containers, plastic bags, machine components, playground equipment, pipes and fittings, pools and large water tanks. PE-HD is an abreviation for high density Poly Ethylene, which as a material type, comes in a variety of different grades. This grade however is the only quality which is weldable. The material may alos be thermoformed and injection molded but is not suitable for bonding due to its low glueability. PE-HD is in the std. quality under limited conditions suitable for outdoor use (Limited UV resistance), but is well suited for manufacturing of water basins and containers. Further more, PE-HD is resistant to a number of organic solvents, but not strongly oxidising chemicals like nitric acid. This quality is approved for direct contact with foods according to EU food legislation.
