Lemvigh-Müller has just published its ESG report for 2024, showing the progress and ambitions for the future of Denmark's largest steel and engineering wholesaler
Lemvigh-Müller's latest ESG report highlights the wholesaler's targeted efforts in 2024 and sets the direction for the work going forward. In 2024, Lemvigh-Müller has had its climate targets approved by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), reduced CO2 e-emissions from its own activities and worked purposefully with initiatives within the working environment and diversity.
ESG report documents initiatives and progress
With the SBTi approval of climate targets, Lemvigh-Müller is now committed to reducing its scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50.4 percent and scope 3 emissions by 30 percent by 2032."With the publication of our ESG report for 2024, we provide a transparent insight into our progress and ambitions in this area. We take responsibility for our climate footprint and at the same time support our customers and suppliers in their green transition," says Executive Advisor at Lemvigh-Müller, Pernille Kiær.
Concrete initiatives create change
As part of realizing SBTi goals, the steel and engineering wholesaler has launched a number of initiatives. Lemvigh-Müller continuously improves energy efficiency and invests in installing solar cells at its own locations. In addition, the wholesaler is continuously working to reduce CO2 emissions in the logistics area, for example by using HVO 100 biodiesel.
At the same time, the wholesaler is reducing the number of kilometers driven and prioritizing electric vehicles where it makes sense. In 2024, Lemvigh-Müller has also focused on CO2 documentation in larger parts of the range, so that customers can gain better insight into the carbon footprint of the products they buy.
"We experience an increasing demand from our customers when it comes to CO2 data and documentation. We are therefore working to provide the necessary insight so they can make the best choices that are less harmful to the environment and climate," says Pernille Kiær.
Focus on work environment and diversity
In 2024, Lemvigh-Müller took significant steps in the social area and achieved gender balance in top management. This is partly the result of a strategic effort to strengthen diversity, inclusion and talent development. At the same time, Lemvigh-Müller has created a historically low number of workplace accidents by having a sustained focus on the working environment. This effort was recognized when the wholesaler was nominated for a work environment award for its work with ergonomics. "We work hard to create a culture where everyone has the opportunity to develop, regardless of gender, background or role in the organization. At the same time, we know that a healthy and safe working environment is not only important for the individual employee, but also crucial for our overall performance and long-term sustainability," says Pernille Kiær.
ESG as a strategic priority
Lemvigh-Müller works with ESG as an integrated part of the business because it makes sense:
"We see ESG as a lever for both business and change. When we invest in solutions, documentation and social responsibility, it's not just about being compliant or doing the right thing. It's common sense. We strengthen our competitiveness, future-proof our business and create value for our customers and suppliers," concludes Executive Advisor at Lemvigh-Müller, Pernille Kiær.
