Coronavirus: The task force follows up on lead times

The coronavirus COVID19 is still spreading throughout the world and unfortunately no immediate solution to the situation seems to be in sight at the moment.

In order to assure the best possible security of supply in the future and in order to give you as our customer necessary information about possible changes in lead times, Lemvigh-Müller has established a task force that is following the situation very closely and it has worked out a plan of action.

The plan of action is:

Action #1: Securing our own-brand products and steel deliveries (week 9)
Regarding Lemvigh-Müller’s own-brand products, we purchase them from China for a longer period - up to 12 months expected consumption.

Regarding steel products, we primarily buy them from European steel mills, as this enables us to better manage the supply than if we were to buy from Asian steel mills.

Action #2: Risk assessment of suppliers (week 10)
Lemvigh-Müller’s task force has commenced a risk assessment and collects information about lead times from the most critical suppliers.

Action #3: High risk suppliers will be contacted (week 11 and ongoing)
In the light of the risk assessment, Lemvigh-Müller’s task force will contact suppliers associated with the highest risks in order to collect information about lead times for the pertinent product groups and areas.

Action #4: Lead times are updated on lemu.dk (ongoing)
Possible changes in lead times will be updated on the product level in the lemu.dk webshop such that an overview of your important products is available. In the meantime, Lemvigh-Müller’s sales organization keeps an eye on changes in the dates of confirmation such that you as customers get informed about possible changes in already confirmed lead times.

Lemvigh-Müller’s task force follows up on the situation weekly and will inform you continuously about the situation. We sincerely hope that the plan of action outlined above will assure that you as customers will be impacted the least conceivable by possible delays in supply.

In this connection, we encourage everyone to stick to their usual purchase plans and avoid stockpiling, as this could cause challenges maintaining our ability to deliver products.
