We secure our production environment with firewalls so that ”intruders” cannot enter our network, and should this happen anyway, we divide our network into smaller segments so that the damage can be limited. But don't we still have XP machines or the like in our production environment that are no longer security updated, and/or machines that run TeamViewer and what about the service technician who comes with his own Laptop? How safe are we really?
Moxa's new IEC-G102-BP series is a small transparent device with two Gigabit Ethernet ports. It is managed with firewall functions, but is not a Router. So it can be inserted into an existing network, between a vulnerable device and the rest, without having to change anything. If it detects the error that we have defined it must react to, you can choose whether it should interrupt the connection and give an alarm or just give an alarm.
The IEC-G102-BP series can read and filter right down to the protocol level. Eg. with Modbus/TCP, you can decide whether a device may write and read or perhaps only read. In this way, it is ensured that infected machines cannot gain accidental access to critical functions.
Another option is to subscribe to Moxa's virus protection solution. Then, in the same way as the virus protection on your laptop, the device can examine and compare data in your network with known viruses, and if it detects something, then interrupt completely and give an alarm or just give an alarm.
DPI (Deep Packet Inspection), the following protocols are supported:
Modbus TCP, Modbus UDP, CIP, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET-DCP, SLMP, Omron FINS, Siemens S7 Comm., Siemens S7 Comm. Plus, MELSOFT, SECS/GEM, TOYOPUC, IEC 61850-MMS
Protection against DoS and DDoS attacks:
ICMP Flood, IGMP Flood, UDP Flood, TCP SYN Flood, TCP Port SYN Scan, TCP Port FIN Scan, TCP Port NULL Scan, TCP Port Xmas Scan, UDP Port Scan
Virus protection patches.
When you subscribe to these patches, you can choose whether you want to insert them manually or automatically via the Server solution SDC. However, it is important to note that the models IEC-G102-BP-SA and IEC-G102-BP-SA-T are not supported by SDC and virus protection patches can be purchased for a maximum period of 5 years (the product's warranty period).
